Nofollow in links - Whats the use ?

No I am not asking about no follows in the links that pointing to my site....

I am asking... what is the use for me to have outgoing links as no-follow in my website....

In my own experiences, nofollow attribute would be used in keeping your current page PR purpose.

Nofollow links are for search engine robots to say them
"Hey! dont visit this link"

 

That is not true.

This subject comes up again and again. The 'robots' meta-tag and robots.txt files instruct search engines whether or not to *index* pages on your site. The 'rel=nofollow' element of a hyperlink is used by Google as way for the website owner to prevent PR from flowing to the target page. Google intended it to be a way to prove "I am not selling my PR through this link because the recipient will receive no PR."

 

With nofollow tag for your outgoing links, you can keep the PR juice in your own website.

So when the PR of current page is divided among all the outgoing links... the links with no follow is not taken into consideration....

So it slightly improves the PR of other pages that are linked (without no-follow) to from the current page...

 

Nofollow just means that the site not voting your site or saying you are not receive any PR juice from the nofollow backlink
However, it still helps in generating targeted traffic and other search engine doesnt care whether dofollow or nofollow, they all considered as backlink

 

As i know that NoFolllow is used for traffic purpose. The nofollow attribute value is not meant for blocking access to content, or for preventing content to be indexed by search engines.

Good information. My vBSEO automatically appends all links with nofollow. I wasn't really clear on what affect that had....but this helps.

 

use nofollow wisely! it can help especially for google.

 

It help to boost your pr of page, b'coz google check incoming and outgoing link for every page's.link. Google do not give weighted to no-follow link.

 

You will get less spams of is nofollow.

 

do follow tags is such which passes page rank to the published link and tells bots to crawl the specified url and
some times excessive link exchanging with do follow tags is hated by gooogle which may have a negative effect on your page rank

Do you realize that no follow also generate backlinks to the targetted sites? The only reason I use no follow is because I don't want to vote for that site.

 

I think their is whole debate on this no-follow and do-follow links but i think if your page having good rank and if your page is do-follow then lots of people try to divert the traffic from your website to their.
