Are the days of making money off adsense numbered?

I'm fairly new to SEO but I've been reading through this forum and it seems like the heyday of making money in this business was 1-2 years ago. Is it still possible to support yourself from adsense advertising or have the new restrictions taken all the profitability out of it?

    Thanks for your input.

I won't say that the days are over, but it is definitely a lot harder to make decent money than it used to. Nowadays I have to put in twice the effort to make half as much money as I was two years ago. It's still better than having a real job but I miss the good ol' days where I was earning around.75 per click on average!

If Google would ban MFA sites it would be a lot better program for all of us!

I can imagine how some of the early entrants into adsense made a lot of money because so few sites had adsense or text based ads on them. Now, a lot more do, but I guess people will still click on them if they are interested in the ad. Believe it or not, the webmaster community is still very small. It seems likelso many because we are constantly hanging around places like DP.

MFA site = Made For Adsense (a poor content site made to put adsense on it)

I don't agree you can still make a decent income .

    Just my 2 cents

I'll say it depends. If you have a hugely popular website with tons of hits, you are still going to make some money.
But for small-time MFA sites, they are going to start counting the pennies :)

Cost of entry is getting a great deal tougher which is a good thing for those who're at the top of this game.

Same goes for Adwords and other PPC arenas. Things will only get tougher, those who've got the most automation and are prepared to work will always be at the top.

I would say that the gap between the top earners and the lower earners is getting wider. There's only more money to be made in this arena, however.

There will always be people coming up with new ideas to make mega bucks on adsense, but will you be one of them?

No I don't think the days are over, but I do think you have to be prepared to work very hard and get lucky :)

Rather than thinking argh they got too much competiton, whats the harm of having smaller websites, and not necessarily get page 1 for the main term. Still an easy way to get some increase in your daily $$$$$$$
