Tutorial: 1st Page On Google

    Hey guys,

I'll let you in on the basics of getting ranked on Google. Obviously, I won't be giving any of my secrets away but this will just be to get you started. This isn't some new brilliant strategy that will solve you problems, this is just an accumulation of basic SEO knowledge that I thought might help fellow DP members

Personally, I've got 32 (and counting) niches on google on the bottom of the first page (a few at the top of the second).

This is the Lite Version. I will have a much more in-depth Ebook with much more resources, information, secrets, etc.

Here are 15 steps you WANT TO FOLLOW:
    1. First off, choose a niche that has a product that you think there is a good demand for.

There are tons of several keyword tools out there that are free. I'm not going to spend all day posting the different ones, but here are a few to get you started:
    -Google Keyword Tool
    -Google Trends
    -SemRush

If you are in fact going for a mainstream product, definitely look into the product's 7 day EPC. It'll will be a loose dictation of your revenue.

    2. Check out the competition:

This should be pretty obvious. Google to see who is competing for the product or niche you selected. Do background research on all the top ranking sites. I typically research the 1st-15th positions. Look for their PR, amount of backlinks AND quality, age of the site, amount of visitors they're getting, and the size and scale of the site.

If you're see a handful of sites that you are confident you can beat them, then do more research on them. If you are still just as confident, then you found your niche (assuming it is a profitable niche).

    3. Now go get your domain

 Woah woah, not so fast. Do your best to get one with the keyword you are trying to rank for or at least an equivalent phrase. I'd stick to the big three: .com, .net, .org

Obviously .com is the most preferred

    4. Website:

Alright so let's assume you're just getting started. You probably don't have a clue on how to design a site or have the money to afford a designer...well you're in luck. Install Wordpress. It's a nice CMS with a ton of plugins. Install the normal ones like Google Analytics, Google Sitemap, allinoneseo, etc.

Now personalize it. Well not to you, but to your niche. Grab a nice looking template (1000's for free), download GIMP, watch a few videos on Youtube and before you know it, you'll have a custom logo, banner and theme for you niche site.

Now the content. We all know content is king. No one wants to go to a site where there is no content. The best thing to do is to post about 2-3 articles a day for 10 days. Now for GFY members, that will include at least one photo in every post.

    5. Make an actual landing page

This part is important. Make an actual landing page, not a list of the most recent posts. Wordpress is setup to default to the most recent posts (I think it shows 5 or 10 previews). You don't want that.

-A popular thing (all though I don't really like it) is to remove the sidebars. Apparently it increases click through rates but I find it annoying and think that users find a side navigation bar useful. But to each his own.

    6. Every post you have should link to your landing page

    7. I'll repeat this: CONTENT IS KING.

    8. Make press releases.

Here is a list of 170+ Free Press Release sites. Not sure how many of them accept adult though:
    The List

    9. Submit articles

    Places like this:
(adults only), ezine, goarticles, buzzle, articlesbase, isnare, etc.. You'll want at least a few to each. Obviously, you'll want them linking to your site and a few other sites that are relative to your niche.

    10. repeat the last step weekly

    11. Links.

Start making them. Learn what anchor texts are and use them wisely. I follow the popular guide of using 55%-75% primary key words. Use bookmarking sites, directory submissions, blogs, forums, etc.. Try to keep them in your niche.

-Links are very powerful in large masses but having useful links will both help boost your SERPs but also bring in traffic (2 birds with 1 stone)

    12. Articles

Find some articles, spin them and then point them to your landing page. Make sure the articles get indexed by Google and other SE's.

    13. Constant Updates

Google loves it when sites are constantly updated with new articles and information. Users also want current content so you should try to post at least 2 articles or GFY content on your site a week.

    14. Adsense

For mainstream audiences, use Adsense or a similar network for surplus revenue on your posts. Be sure not to put ads on the landing page. You only want your product there or CPA links. A lot of people don't like to see affiliate links. Amazingly, there is a way to cloak them

    15. Lastly, keep the work up. If you feel like your sites haven't gone anywhere for 2 months, you have three options:

    A. Double check you did everything right. I didn't cover the very very basics such as setting up Google Analytics, how to get indexed, etc.. But if you did everything right and Google is just taking their sweet old time, then move on and dedicate your time to getting another project started (while still maintaining your first site).

    B. Call in some backup firepower. Many variations of this such as Backlinks, buying traffic, SEO experts, etc.. Like me ;)

    C. If you've tried the above, you're ranked highly for your terms and still aren't making ANY money either change up the product or how you market it. If that doesn't work sell the site or Dump it.

Here are things you DO NOT WANT TO DO:

    1. Link exchanges

Simple link exchanges don't much for SERPs. Do-Follows with anchor text are the most efficient types of links. There are complicated link exchanges that follow algorithms that work.

    2. Link wheels

-Deemed dead. There are ways around this. Hamiltonian paths. I might release a service for this but until then just ignore it. It's pretty much a link wheel that follows a NP-complete algorithm (hamiltonian paths). You can only estimate it's direction and source.

    3. I'll repeat this: Don't use free hosts.

    4. Unique Content

Do not have content that is 100% identical to another sites. Google will penalize you for it.

    5. Don't forget about your headers, footers, and tags.

    6. Try not to use iframes. Max 1 popunder per page (if you have to...)

I've used this method with my variations and secrets and have ranked for about 45 niches. The ones I didn't rank for I pretty much underestimated the competition or didn't research at all. Stuff like cheap hosting and amateur porn aren't as easy as I first thought

If you happen to develop a great method for picking low-mid competition niches then you'll be off to a great start. You'll start seeing some good results in the first 4-6 weeks.

The cost to do what was mentioned here is a registration fee for your domain and hosting (cheap...). Just don't use a free host. In my experience and learning they just get penalized. No point to do all the work and then get penalized for who you host with. A few bucks a month isn't going to kill you.

Hope this helps everyone. If you have any questions or comments let me know.

    Regards,
    Jim aka jkthedesigner

-If you think this was helpful please comment and thank me but also realize this is nothing compared to what will be in my ebook  Methods discussed in my ebook can easily make you $500 a day if you follow them

Thanks everyone :) I wish I could reveal all of the secrets and techniques but I can't. That'd be like shooting myself in the foot. On another hand, I'll release a much more in depth whooo with probably 98% of what it takes to make $700 a day. All of it is legal and I will be going through examples so that you can reference them when building your own empire :)

    Hope everyone enjoys

As mentioned by a few others there's nothing revolutionary here, but for the most part this looks to be a good overview for someone new to SEO.

Not a problem. And yes a->b->c->d link exchanges work but there are ones that are far better than that.

Lets say I want to rank for the keyword "banana" and my domain is www.banana.com. Naturally, I would want the links to have "banana" as their anchor text but how much worse is it if the link doesn't have any anchor text and is just www.banana.com? How about no anchor text and my domain is www.tastybanana.com?, is there any difference?

Well there is a big difference. In general you want to use anchor text that is very similar to your keywords. You'll want to vary it up a bit. Remember, you are trying to replicate how a site gets popular (the whole point of google's algorithm), and replicate it accordingly. Chances are that not every person who like facebook attached the same exact "social network" anchor text or even put anything besides "hey check out facebook.com" and that is why you vary things up a bit :)

Hah thanks. Well this isn't squat compared to the ebook I'll release
