A couple of days ago I noticed a sudden loss of traffic from Google on my Swedish site 360slim.se . The site used to list on the first page or even in the top five on Swedish Google results for the keyword "360 slim" and high for "xbox 360 slim". This have been the case for the last two months or so until now. Now the site and its subpages have dived down to page 58 or circa result 580 which is the absolute bottom of all the presented results. The site is still indexed by Google and I have no indications of the issue in Webmaster Tools. Is this a punishment by Google or can it be the phenomenon "Google dance" in action? The only things I can think of doing wrong with the site is to copy a short paragraph from it and putting on another site linking to it (duplicate content?) and the fact that I have a small network of gadget-sites which links to each other. So what can it be and what can I do to get back in the higher listings?
You do not have a duplicate content problem. You don't have duplicate content from what you're describing. You have syndication. Generally when sites suddenly bomb, something has been changed or just hasn't been done period. Have you changed anything on your site recently? Have you kept your content fresh (fresh content receives a bonus)? Have you continued building links consistently?
Either suddenly google didnt like your links, or alot of your link sources have gone, or you made some big changes all of a sudden
I agree with what Philoon has said. Fresh content receives a bonus, but there is something else that might have caused this big drop. Check your site for broken links. Google hate these.
If your traffic seems to be decreasing then you might be surely having some content duplicate. And if that is not the problem then start working on social media optimization.
Copyscape caught duplicate content at x10minipro.se and I assume this is the site you are talking about. I would suggest you to correct the first mistake by editing the duplicate content on x10minipro.se to make it copyscape free Next, build more contents for your 360slim.se with targeting keywords "360 slim". You can use wordpress to manage your contents. Update more contents on your blog regularly which is relevant to this keyword and you will slowly reach higher ranking. Other than that, build some local links from .se sites which is relevant to your niche. You can either be a guest blogger on local blogs or paying to get the links. Either way, local backlinks (dofollow) from niche targeted blogs or websites will certainly help your site get back to first page.
There are many reasons why your site might lose search engine result rankings. Some of those reasons can be traced to a particular fault while others just occur in the natural course of life. In essence, rankings change because change happens. Source:http://searchengineland.com/the-ranking-roller-coaster-cause-and-effect-11241
Thanks for all the answers! I still haven't figured out exactly what the problem is. I corrected some sentences to lower the similarities with my other site x10minipro.se and I will try to update the site with some news to keep it fresh. I however noticed, when searching for "xbox 360 slim", my site is at the bottom, and near my positions are the sites "slimxbox360.org" and "xbox360slim250gb.co.uk" which also should be higher than say for instance the link "Western Civilization: Since 1789" from Google Books on the same results page. Can it be that Google or somebody thinks these sites and mine are using domains and sites trying to cash in on a hot product and without no substance or such?
Now the site is back to almost exactly where it was on Google for a week ago (high up on first page). It must have been the phenomenon "Google dance" which shuffled it around and then back again without any good reason.
