I'm so sick of "Thanks" Posts and other Useless posts

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by MiletNZ, Sep 23, 2010.

It seems every time I post a thread, whether it be a General Question or even one Very Specific to my websites - as in looking for a fix in code that only I'm using - I get one of these replies..

The users always have less than 20 posts and is usually goes along the lines of "Thanx for this" etc.

It really REALLY peeves me off as I think I have a useful reply and it's just one of these POINTLESS posts.

Is there a way that DP can add a minimum word count to posts? Or something to fix this? It's damn right annoying and it's clearly just newbies trying to get their post counts up.

GAH! Really gets on my nerves. But now I've got that off my chest I feel a bit better..

Just use 'Report Post' button for those posts and we will take care of that.

    1. There is a minimum post number.
    2. Use the report post button (/!\) and report it for 'Running Up Post Count'.
    3. It is against the rules.

@bk871 - You still can't use this little itsy bitsy image here ([IMG]) :p

@OP - So yeah just use the report button and the mods will use Thor's hammer upon those silly noobs. You can't sometimes blame other members here in the forums for posting one silly liners on some of your threads especially when they think that it is just appropriate to thank you for it but not actually discuss it any further. XD

OP - You talking about noobs!

What about the ones who are pretty old, who post same information which is already being told by another member. :p

For example -- In this thread only! :D

If the post is of the type discussed above - than you, great info, ... the answer is yes. If the post adds genuine info to the thread it is allowed.

what's the point of reporting.. it's useless!

I reported 10 websites on the sites MAIN page.

And nothing happened to them, even though these 10 threads were posted on other websites for sale too.

On average I noticed 50% of the sites for sale threads posted are breaking the rules. Most of them post the same sites on sale at other forums or auction sites.

I report them and BAM... no mod does anything. Even, when I've provided links to other places with the SAME post.

Its not only that. Some forums are being flooded too with the same stupid complains. Take the Commission Junction and Adsense forum for instance. Both of them are full with "My account got suspended without any reason. What is wrong with CJ/Adsense?" type of post.

Thanks for all the input, so is there going to be any more measures put in place to try and stop such behaviour?

A "thank you" mod addon would stop a lot of the useless thanks posts.

This is one of the things where I think the Moderators are pretty good at dealing with, over the past few months there has been a lot less spam then there used to be.

    This is true.

But as someone above suggested, the forum would benefit if it had a "Thanks" Button for posts

Seriously, you got nothing better to do? I guess you're one of those people that scours the internet looking for people to try and prove wrong?

The First one is a serious answer, I liked the social media buttons on the theme the OP made

The Second I was thankful that someone answered one of my own threads which is a completely different situation to what I posted about here.

    Thanks.
