old domains means those websites are well established and have backlinks. New websites takes time to develop backlinks. This may be the reason for old domains to rank higher in google search results.

There is no guarantee that the age of the domain will prevent you from going into the sandbox, especially if the domain's not had a site on it in all those years.

I don't think there's any issue of Sandbox in optimizing your site with old domains. Besides, to prevent your site from going into Sandbx, do only ONE thing... Keep your SEO strategies "natural" for Google. Don't put too much on your new site at once. Optimize new sites with a normal speed and there will be no fear or going in Google Sandbox.

    Also:
    - Don't overdo SEO on your site
    - Don't use SPAM and Black Hat SEO techniques to get "fast ranking" in SERPs

Once Google indexes your site and sees that it is naturally optimized, than there's no need to worry about Sandbox.

    Good luck,

    Hi,

General speaking, old domains would not be in sandbox if they have been used. But, if you increase new back links to the old domain sharply, they might be go into sandbox again.

    all the best,

Rare chance to be sandboxed if the domain had been used. If it wasn't used at all then there is a chance.
