Like any caching plugin, it decreases the server load. Caching creates static HTML files of your webpages generated by the PHP. PHP is a service on the server and must run the scripts each time a page is loaded. Caching to HTML prevents PHP from running constantly and can speed up your website as well as prevent crashing on traffic surges.

It has nothing to do with SEO, really. The only thing I can imagine it affecting would be PR if your page load time is lower as a result of using the plugin. As long as your on-site and off-site SEO are good you will be just fine.

Best feature of this plugin is that it's a collection of few caching plugins like Database Caching, Webpage Minify, CDN Settings, Object Caching, Browser Caching etc. That means one plugin will sort out several caching plugins.

Personally I use this plugin in two of my blogs. I believe it works best with CDN facilities. I use S3 from Amazon Web Services.

Total Cache is the best, redirect based on user agent is killer by itself
