What's benefits of Meta Tags ?

Meta Tag (Title and Description) is very important part of a website as well as search engines. when visitors are putting his query on Google search box, Google is showing Meta Title, Meta Description and URL on the SERPs. So visitor will get correct result on his query. If you do not have Meta Tag then how it will come proper way.

 

Actually the most important is the Title Tag for your site and then come meta tags but you need to worry much about that coz most search engines ignore that. There is description tag and keywords tag later in the meta tags. And these has the lat and very less priority in the most search engines.

Description tag helps to tell reality about your web page coz you know that the description tag for every page is different. The keywords put in the keyword tags just work as the supporting keywords to your main targeted keywords coz it's not possible to put all the keywords and their combination in the Title Tag so we put all these other keywords in the keyword tag.

 

The most important Meta tag for SEO is your page description. Search engines do make use of this tag but it does not outweigh the title or visible text.

 

Meta part is the real reference content for search engine spiders, it give the initial impact of the site to search engines. If the meta info is totally matching with your site content then only search engines gives you the valuable preference in the rankings.

 

Depends of what meta tags you are talking. If the description it is useful for users because it tells what the site is all about. For meta keywords as they say it is useless.

 

My thought is as follows. I use Wordpress for all my sites. I get top rankings for most of them. And if Wordpress has meta-tags then they are AWESOME. And by awesome I mean, they give results.

I am agree with your statement but not completely, it is useful for search engines as well as for visitors. Specially description tag is very necessary because it describe what matter on your web page, it is also visible to users so it is necessary to write interactive, include most your targeted keywords etc.

 

So you don't care what "snippet" users see for your website when they find you on Google? That tends to be a pretty big factor in whether or not someone clicks on your link. I don't normally go to sites that have "Privacy Policy - Contact Us - About Us - Sitemap" or whatever was just pulled off their page since they couldn't bother to add a Meta description. If they can't take 30 seconds to throw that into their website's code, then I don't want to waste my time seeing what else they half-assed.

 

Meta tag is really helpful for seo for getting traffic from search engines.

Meta tags are very important for on page optimization. ( every little detail counts when optimizing a website for search engines )

Most popular search engines now ignore meta keywords, so that isn't really important, but I still use it, so that my web pages can rank high in any search engine. ( not only Google, Bing & Yahoo )
