New website, any pointers to improve layout?

Hey there, I've started a new website created in 4 days, and I want to know if theres anything I should add or take away from the website to help it look better?

Please go easy on me, it's my first website :X

I'm still working on hiring someone to create a banner/header for me, so thats one thing I need to fix.

All opinions are appreciated

 

The white text on the grey background is not to inviting. Black text is more readable... and black text on a white background is the best.

 

Try to fix the header. It seems that on the domain name you dont have a url... it is on the whole header exept the letters... And i would suggest a custom logo

 

I would use those above advices.... but here is my advice....

Whatever the page is make the nav link bolder or a different color so the user knows they are on the new page.

I was cruising from page to page and did not know I was actually changing pages.

Review on your post: Post in the correct section, you might get more response.

 

Here are my suggestions.
1. Mouse over color for the menu is getting mixed with the background color.
2. Try to change the body background color.
3. separate the footer with a <hr> or with different background color.
4. change the header to a banner image.
5. Take care of the fonts. It is not same through out the website. Use only one font with different sizes for header, text, sub-heading etc.
6. Looking at the source code showed that you havent used the CSS of your own, Try to use it. This CSS will make the website look uniform.

 

Most of what I'd be inclined to say has already been mentioned apart from...never EVER use clip art.

You really wanna stay away from clipart, I know it's the free option, but free isn't necessarily better.

Use flash + photoshop header in your website like i have used in my clients website..

I think buddy u designed this site for the commerce rt, then the logo should not be bigger in the header, and color is looking hard, use light color. to ur site its my suggestion
