Hey guys....i'm using hosting via godaddy.com and I've just installed wordpress. I installed some plugins too, everything worked fine, however, when I tried to create a category, it gave me "Page Not Found" error with the following message:
    Page Not Found

The page you tried to access does not exist on this server. This page may not exist due to the following reasons:

    1. You are the owner of this web site and you have not uploaded (or incorrectly uploaded) your web site. For information on uploading your web site using FTP client software or web design software, click here for FTP Upload Information.
    2. The URL that you have entered in your browser is incorrect. Please re-enter the URL and try again.
    3. The Link that you clicked on incorrectly points to this page. Please contact the owner of this web site to inform them of this situation.

    Please help me with this!!!!!!!

    Hi,
i dont think the plugins are creating the issue. to diagonize please follow these steps :

[1] just below the category link in the admin page, there is another link: "Post Tag" please open it and see if you are able to perform actions on this page.
if you are not , then in your wordpress files, check whether this file exists :
    wp-admin/edit-tags.php
if its not there, i suggest just delete the whole folder : wp-admin, and upload it again.
most probably the files were not uploaded properly.

[2] if the above step does not work, please uninstall all the plugins, and try to create the category,
please let me know what happened on following these steps

    Thanks

[1] are you able to do other operations ? like creating the posts , pages, uploading the media etc? if yes, then probably the wordpress files have not been uploaded properly.
in this case, just take the bakcup of wp-config.php file, then delete wp-admin and wp-co

I will try to help. When in your dashboard, you click on Categories which is listed under the Posts box. Categories comes up and you see the column that says Add New Category, followed by Name, Slug, Parent etc. Categories can have a hierarchy, for example; Sports category can be the Parent page, and Basketball, Football etc will be your child pages. When creating a Category chose None as the Parent so that will be the top/main category. After you fill out all the information click on Add New Category. When you create a new post, you will see Categories on the right hand side underneath the Publish box. Here you an check the box of the Category as it pertains to your post. Need anymore help let me know.

My guess is that you've enabled permalinks - but your .htaccess file wasn't updated. Go back to the original url structure (with the ?'s) or make your .htaccess writeable and try saving the permalink structure again.
