How to get SSH to work???

Ok I got Putty, and I'm trying to connect to my server through SSH to install Fantastico.

I have Open SSH2 pre-installed on my server and I went to WHM's manage SSH keys. I typed in a username/ password stuff, and entered that and the server IP into Putty, and it shoots off the error:
"Disconnected No Supported authentication methods available"

Any ideas on how to fix this and get logged in? Is there something I'm missing?

    I'd appreaciate any help.

You need to login with your cpanel username and password.
If you want to install something you will have to su to root user, or login with username root/WHATeverYOURrootPASSis

you should have got these details in your welcome email.

cpanel login/poass combination won't work here unless you have ssh access.

Login with your root username and pass when prompted by putty to do so.
Restart ssh before trying out again, if the last attempt didn't work out. Make sure you enter the correct port number. By default, its 22, unless you or someone else has changed it.

    Is this a VPS?

no its a dedicated and I tried the root, but I think my password was complicated so I changed it and will wait until I am able to try again.

99.9% of hosts do not allow Shell access.

Mainly because it would give you too much power on the server.

Shared accounts would get messed up, because people would reset the server and shut down all the sites temporarily.

Most hosts have you send in your ID and shit to have shell access.

Ok I figured it out, turns out that I had password verification turned off and I turned it on and now everything works fine. That should've been put in a location where you could actually find it lol.

Just wanted to bump this since it helped me when I was digging for answers to this SSH error in Google. To be specific as to how I fixed, the dedicated server client had disabled the feature in WHM called "SSH Password Authorization Tweak". If you find that feature is disabled, make sure to re-enable it. This problem will also effect WHM transfers if the client tries to make a transfer using the root username as WHM will use SSH port for this as well.
