That would be incredibly difficult to slice, due to the arrangement of the pattern elements...for want of a better word... I'm guessin you wanna convert it to CSS right? My guess is there is about a million layers on that? I would flatten that whole entire background then import that into Dreamweaver or whatever you want to use, then build your own CSS rules around that. Thats a nasty one to slice...my honest answer is you wouldn't find anyone to do that for free...that's one of the more complex variations. I mean it's do-able but it's certainly beyond the scope of anything I'd wanna get involved in for sure. I'm sorry I cannot be of any more help than that...but my best advice is what I said above.
Well to answer the question, you cannot slice diagonally. You will slice it in regular boxes, or slice it all together as 1 background image and then position <div> boxes accordingly on top of the background image as mentioned above. It's a relatively simple process, you just need to make use of floats and margins.
It's not possible to slice diagonally, I usually just taking that kind of element one by one and arrange it back using complex css... it's more challengeing
