Can you design this Website for us? We are looking for someone to do a Home Page design. If we like the look and feel of the design we would consider awarding the whole website design and implementation to you. We will pay well for the right person.

    Here is the design Brief:

    Website Graphic Design
eSold will be a subscription based shopping site with 24 hour specials (usually between 1-3 products), that will only be available at a special price for that limited 24 hour period; or until sold out.
Our site will perform in a similar way to: www.woot.com. (However we want the site to be clearer, less cluttered, and more reflect the design concept of Web 2.0)

Main Components of the front page of website:
The Website REALLY needs to “POP!” – It has to be REALLY visually appealing, but clear and simple, and grab the attention of the Visitor IMMEDIATELY.
We want the site to be vibrant, have good use of whitespace and elements of appropriate colour!! We will also have pictures and possibly video’s (potentially “funny”), hosted by YouTube (in order to potentially attract additional interest) of whatever product we are selling that day – so the site has to cope with that as well.
We would like a Web 2.0 look that is “Clear and Simple”. We do not want a messy or cluttered page.
    Clean and Clutter free

We want the site to be intuitive and guide the user through the website in a straight forward and easily navigated manner.
We would like a clean and clutter free website that would require our designer to think about their designs and only include the necessary elements relevant to the user.
The design should be straight forward and relevant.
The intention is for a Visitor to be able to “Click through to” the Website Landing page and VERY quickly review the “Offer”, decide if it’s for them, and either continue with their process of either reviewing and/or purchasing the product or, leaving the Site; ideally to “Click through” the next day and VERY Quickly and easily, be able to perform the same activity.
Centrally aligned the pages to take full advantage of the width of the screen.
The number of columns within the website should be kept to a minimum.
    Navigation

It is all about usability, and simple navigation means usability.

Customers shouldn’t have to make more than 2-3 clicks to reach their desired destination (excluding the shopping cart).

The user needs to be quickly and easily aware of their position within the website and be able to “Navigate” their way Back to any other page of the Site just as quickly and easily.
Rich Surfaces, Reflections and Bold Icons

Subtle 3D effects in certain elements of the website. To make it appealing to the Visitor because it makes visual objects feel more real and finished.

Our logo is clear and simple, any icons on the site need to be the same. (See my addition to the Comment on the right) It clarifies to users who we are, what we do and why we are different. Our Logo is, and will be, distinctive and easily recognizable to existing Customers and New Visitors.

    Site Elements
The main element of the site is that the item is only available for 24 hours, and as such a 24 hour countdown timer which is displayed ‘ticking’ down to zero which will also change to “eSOLD out” once we have sold our allocated quota (which will be hidden from view of the visitor) of each product.
We spent 10 minutes working up a sample design (please see attached) – but please don’t rely on just what we have done – we are not designers!

The elements that the first page must have:
    • Product
    o What is being Sold
o How much the typical/usual RRP of the product is
o What the saving is in $ and %
o One appropriately proportioned (to the page) picture
o Some additional smaller pictures (one of which may be a YouTube video Window)
o A text box – we will be selling a a diverse range of products (from laptops to golf balls – so flexibility in the amount of Text that can be “Typed In” is critical )
    • A subscribe feature to the daily email list.
o Visitors/Subscribers will be asked for a User Name (Which can be anything) and their eMail address
    • General Menu with:
    o About us
    o Customer Service
    o Common Questions (FAQ’s)
    o Shipping Info/Policy etc
    * Not included in General Menu, but prominent on the page, Link to eSOLD on Facebook (incl. “Share with friends capability) and possibly twitter

    Less Prominent information
    o Copyright Information
    o ABN etc
o Supply Us (to a page which where we will allow suppliers to get in touch)
    o Terms of Service
    o Privacy Policy
o Etc (what else have we missed?)

Remember that we want Google and the other search engines to find us – so it has to be SEO friendly as well

    Daily Emails:
Every day we will be sending out an email to our Subscribers/Customer Base notifying them about the daily Product offering – Essentially, everything that has been said in relation to how the WebSite Landing Page looks, should be carried across to the Daily eMailwe want the email to really pop, and for the “Recipient” to be sufficiently “Excited” to “Click through to” the WebSite.. Before long, we will have tens of thousands (and then hundreds of thousands) of people accessing information about the daily Offer – so the site has to load quickly, and the sale quickly and easily transacted “SECURELY!!!”. (Daily emails should have the same look and feel as the Website and entice people to click through to the site for more information etc.)

The back-end – HTML, databases etc.
After we have chosen a design we will work closely with the right party to make the site a reality, but like all big decisions to be forearmed is to be forwarned.
It may be a good idea whilst we are starting out to use an existing shopping cart system which allows for us to customise the extra components to suit our purposes. As the business grows we will want a customised cart/backend etc. Of course, we welcome, and are open to, your thoughts and ideas about how else we may achieve this. .
We will need to track our subscribers and email them on a daily basis with our daily Product Offering.
We require a simple customer management database in (Website) Version 1, which would grow/evolve and become more complex in later versions, to enable comprehensive classification of clients/demographics/Product preferences, Customer Orders; etc.

A few random sites we like the design of and why:

http://www.pauljennings.com.au/about.asp - great use of color, fun, exciting, Stands Out

http://www.boostjuice.com.au/#/home/ - Great “One Page/Screen” Web Page. EXCELLENT use of “White Space” Bright Colors, Simple, (Note: Poor choice of Font/Size for Main Menu – Hard to Read)

http://www.sumosalad.com/ - Another great example of an (almost) “One Page/Screen” Web Page. Good Fonts, clean and clear, professional looking images
www.ebay.com.au – Excellent use of “White Space”. While the Page has a LOT of information on it, it is still very clean and crisp and has an interesting and exciting use of different Fonts; without it looking with an unorganised mess!!

http://www.ourdeal.com.au/ - Reasonably good example although a little bit busy! Colors are very “Washed Out” unfortunately and the Site doesn’t really “Jump Out” and/or “Grab” you! Could be “Balanced a bit better

http://www.coles.com.au/ - Potentially a bit too much use of the color “Red”, however, Page is relatively clean and crisp, simple, pretty well balanced. Doesn’t “POP” but “Looks” simple to navigate!!

http://www.treeet.com.au/ - too busy for us but LOVE the Top Line Graphics and the use of “White Space” Clean and Crisp!!

www.catchoftheday.com.au – great colours and Graphics. Some Fonts VERY good, others not so exciting. Top 1/3 of the web Page looks really good but as a whole Page (scrolling Down) too busy!

http://shop.bigpond.com/ - Colours look pretty nice, although potentially a BIT TOO MUCH use of the color “Blue!!” and the Page is TOO BUSY!

www.netspace.com.au Like the animations and clean look and feel. Nice site
