    how to check competition on a keyword, i can get global monthly results from the google keyword tool but i don't know how to check competition.

    any guides or free tools i can use?

    would checking the PR of say the top 10 sites that pop up for that keyword be sufficient? What kind of PR makes it high, med or low competition?

    * Open Google.com/webhp.
    * Type inanchor:”example keywords” and record the number of results shown.
    * Type intitle:”example keywords” and record the number of results shown.
    * Add the 2 figures (Figure 1 + Figure 2).
    * The result is your actual competition.

    I am using Market Samurai. You should be able to see your competition with this tool. I agree with ronmac. Download the trial version. It's really helpful.

    10th first page result is the best to measure the competition.

    I actually add up title and anchor search results to estimate competition. The numbers aren't exact and they do shift constantly, but it's a nifty trick for presentation purposes :)

    Thank you, Angelina. This is pretty cool. I'll have to test it out a bit to see how effective it really is, but I can't afford Market Samurai right now.

    actually i thought checking out your competition has to do with typing your keyword phrase you got from your keyword research tool on google search string or any other search engines: then the nos of website that the search engine show [with similar keyword phrase or same] is your competition
