I finally started surfing around the control panel and found this: "Latest Reputation Received" There are some points there, but I have really no clue how they effect me. I mean, I have positive and negative votes. Some people seem to compliment, while others say names. Can this system be abused, and should I care, or just like other forums, understand there are idiots in the world? Thank you, tom
It can be abused of course but it really means nothing. If someone was threatening just report it to Shawn (the board admin). If you got enough negatives you could loose your right to a signature but this isn't a random thing. It takes a lot of them to have that happen.
It could be abused but you will have to be real naughty to get a whole bunch of sad people to start a razzia against you. If they do, you probably deserve it in a way... Yuo can learn from it also. The good members will leave real feedback, whether positive or negative you can take a mental mnote of it and see how you can improve as a forum player. And yes you will get a handful of morons posting anonimously leaving bad language. You are better than them per definiton so don't get upset about it. And if you get a lot of the nice ones you might get 2 little green shields one day
Thanks for the extra info. Ok, so it can effect you. Can you explain what the points are for, I mean do you loose your sig, if you go negative? Sorry to keep following up with more questions, just like life, everything is a learning process. tom

I originally went looking for 'Latest Reputation Recieved' and found negative theads. eek. But looking for 'reputation system' that turned up lots of interesting stuff. Some very heavy threads. Looks like a lot of reading material. Thanks for the suggestion! tom
Congratulations yfs1, I see you are a double greeny already. How did you know how many points Wendy has to go? All I can see is a general red box or green box for each member.
She keeps passing me then going behind me so I can kind of figure it out more or less. I would say shes around 97 or 98 now. She deserves every point in my opinion. The real surprise is that Shawn doesn't have 50 green bubbles. I know he doesn't care about rep and it is meaningless in the grand scheme of things but show him some love...lol
Ha, its true about Shawn, the first time it even entered my head to give a good rep was when the new msn and yahoo keyword tracker features were relelased. Ha, at least alexa is accurate when you get near the top!
I'm 5 away now, got blasted last night for some weird reason in the inverse thread. not even sure what was going on there. congrats on the double green, and i agree, shawn should be there, but everytime he says no to someone in the co op i'm sure he gets dinged lol

Click "Settings" (top right, next to Log Out). Your rep is at the bottom of the page. If you don't have any rep yet, you'll probably get some for bringing back a thread from 2005. Enjoy

Actually I have also read somewhere on DP, that we are not allowed to make a post for reputation or infractions. Or is it because this thread is too old ? I guess you are lucky to get away and get a proper help from the experts
It's so hard to unmask and know what lies underneath. Not every thing poeple think is true, but most of it is. So keep your friends close and your enemies closer. It did not work for anyone in past but you could be the first one to do it.
