So its definitely about the quality of your tweets and what you have to offer. Take the time to really connect with other users. Retweet others tweets if they are good. Reply to others messages and generally interact.

Many people seem just to think that they get 50,000 followers and this means that they can just broadcast crap self serviing junk all day which people will just love, but this is not the case. All social networking is about building trust. Once you have the trust, you can then market to people.
