Would Facebook Benefit Our Website?

    Hello DP'ers!

We are thinking of making a page on Facebook for our website and products, but will this actually do anything for our website and bring any visitors? How will it work?

Any information will be helpful in us deciding whether to do it or not. I've looked for help on the web but I cant find anything useful!

    Thanks,
    Mochalatte

There is no harm in trying. Even if all you get is one more customer or visitor, I guess its still better than none :)

It won't harm you in any way. You'd better create the page on Facebook and slowly learn how to market it. Spread the network gradually and it can work wonders.

Decide what you want from it, do you want to increase exposure of your brand? Become the expert in your field or just get traffic and hopefully sales? Knowing why you're creating the page will help make it a relevant and useful page.

For me my main priority is position my self as an expert and increase my brand awareness, by doing this traffic and sales will follow.

But like everyone else, have a go and see what happens

My name is Jo Barnes and after recently researching how to get a fan page built and promoted, I was bowled over by the extortionate prices people are charging. I presume due to the air of 'mystery' still hanging over fan pages.

So over the last few weeks I have been using and testing facebook and fan pages to what works and what doesn't and decided to record some FREE training videos on, Creating a Fan Page, Adding a List Building Landing Page including Video and Graphics, Promoting the Page and eventually Monetizing it. I also built a template to automate the creation of the landing page to get over the FBML coding complications for all us normal non-techie types!!

I'm in the middle of this series, and have released Videos 1 & 2, Video 3 should be available by the end of this week.

Anyway, if you'd like to have a look, it's all Free, no sales pitches or catches - (I'm just trying to build a reputation), then please go over to my fan page and check them out.

    Regards

    Jo

You should offer unique content on your facebook fan page and always use URLs that point back to your website. I like to use Facebook for User Contests, Promotions, tools that lead them back to the website, polls, and customer service. Doing those things will raise your Fans on Facebook and lead them back to your website for goal conversion.

Make sure you use analytics for the URLs you put in any social network. It provides additional information for future decisions. Be sure all significant content for your website has the Like button.

No matter what you do you HAVE to be consistent and a listen to what your fans are saying.

    Thanks everyone for your views.

I have set up a Facebook fan page, and also a Twitter page that link to each other. I haven't dedicated any time to promoting this at the moment, but will be shortly. Any one have any tips? I want to add URLs into the Facebook page, but I see this may be very difficult, as YouTube don't allow URLs in their text so I doubt others will. :(

I think FB should definitely be part of your Marketing strategy..
Always remember that people trust others' referrals much more than traditional marketing.
As well since its generally going to be 'acquaintances' that see your page, they will be more apt to support you.
