I think that Yoga can be useful for health only in combination with some spiritual practices. If you just do some exercises without studyong the whole apprenticeship of Yoga - it is useless to my mind.
Purchasing Video CDs is better option than books coz you can learn well through videos rather than to read them....
You can also do general exercises which you do at a Gym and keep yourself fit. I don't believe much in Yoga thing.

Get yourself trained by a good yoga teacher. Proper learning is very important to harvest the benefits of yoga.
