Contest Retro Logo Competition - $50 prize

    Hi Folks,

I am starting a new retro website that is going to be aimed at just retro gaming, retro toys and retro games.

The site is called It's Retro!

Here are a few more details...

    • The size should be 350x70 pixels
    • A PNG with transparent background
    • Should have the name It's Retro! in the logo
    • Should feel like something from the 70's. Search for the phrase retro and 70's and see what you find
    • I am open to colour schemes
    • This is probably going to be on a black background, so not too many dark colours please
    • Please do not PM me entries. It takes too long to sort through my inbox as it is :)

There will be only one winner but there is no limit to the number of entries that you do.

Please remember that this site is dedicated to old computers, games, etc., so get your creative juices flowing :)

More info for you: As long as you don't use exact photos of items, there is no problem showing things like Mario, Frogger, old computers, etc. See what firebox have done here http://www.firebox.com/category/retro

I am planning on leaving this open for a few days but will extend it if nothing suits for another few days. the $50 will be sent via PayPal

    Bonus Information

If you make something absolutely amazing, I will add in another $25 making this a possible $75 prize.

    Regards,

    Andy

Just as another idea, search for 70's and do an image search on Google - loads more possible ideas in there for those with the imagination :)

Well, with $50 up for grabs, don't be bored!

Canyoudigit. The logo needs to be on a transparent background and I need to make sure I don't get into any copyright issues using an official Atari paddle. Other than that, the logo is too plain I'm afraid.

    Thanks for the entry.

The dice looks a little like the Domino's pizza logo and it's still not shouting out at me. It is really just text that I could do in any paint package myself I'm afraid.

Do a search for the phrases retro and 70's and have a look at all of the images to get some ideas :)

The final will of course be re-sized, and in in PNG format without the black background. I can make any changes you want. Hope you like it.

    hi,

I know you said you nedded a black background so this is my try

PS i didn't wanted to use a retro icon because i think you can have a funky ..FRESH new style and still reprezent that 70's style.

OK - the pace is hotting up here - some really nice stuff happening :)

Drama - I like what you are trying to do but it's just not shouting out at me. I think perhaps they feel a little 'flat' if that makes any sense? I am also not sure about the icons? Love the idea, but as I said, is missing something.

Denver - I really like this. Feels like an old 'diner' kind of sign but I feel it is also missing 'something'. Also, the black outline round the text looks a little pixelated, but I do like what you are doing.

Track - I really like both designs here and would struggle between which is my favourite. The coloured one does indeed have a really nice clean look but doesn't shout retro enough. The disco ball has more about it. My only worry with the disco ball is the constraints with the size of the logo, I would not be able to make use of the light shining down.

Tsuther - Very nice! Could you perhaps resize this to the logo size so that I can get an idea of what it will look like please?

Thanks everyone so far - keep them coming as already there are a few designs I really like :)

Don't forget, you can submit as many as you like!
