I started arcade(flash games) website but I am new in this field as I don't play games much.
Can you point me to some websites types where I can promote it to get traffic?
If you can recommend some specific website, please post url here.
    Thanks

The best free way of getting traffic is to do link exchanges and Banner Exchanges. Sites like:

    http://www.funklicks.com
    http://www.moregamers.com

are examples. If you are paying, I would suggest buying links in the DigitalPoint Links forum. I would buy links on Proxy, Myspace and other arcade websites.

I have one word for you... plugs. Get a really GOOD game on your arcade site and submit it as plugs to
    http://www.heavygames.com
    http://www.gamelinks.com
those are the two that worked for me the best. One of my games that I "plugged" to gamelinks.com has had 5000+ visitors to just that game all TODAY!! It's the best free advertisement for arcade sites, period.

Ok to answer your question - Your Target Market should be Teen & Children .

Here's a tip i shouldn't be giving away. promote your site on myspace & ebaumsworld forum. Teen's will see your site and talk about it all day in the computer lab at school. Trust me on this one ;-]

Thanks for some of the useful tips. I am currently in the process of promoting my arcade site.

I'm just wondering if there is much fraud going on with robots on these exchange type sites.

Yea they are some cheaters but you can avoid them by not dealing with those type of websites. Join banner exchanges that give you a good return. You can try this banner exchange as they exchange clicks and not impressions also.

If you trade trade I would look at investing in purchasing traffic. If your site can make more than 1 cent per visitor, it is obvious that buying traffic for 1 cent per visitor would earn you a profit.

One question: Why did you start an arcade site if you don't play games? Isn't there something you are more familiar with you can use to make some money?

I know this thread is very old, but there may still be some people who follow it. Would anyone be interested in exchanging links? My site is www.thepointlessarcade.com
