I am not very experienced with blogs. Do I need to buy my own hosting for wordpress blog?
I was thinking that I'll just buy a domain name and redirect it to my wordpress blog(hosted by wordpress.com). In that way I can save some money(hosting costs around $8/month).

Please let me know what is the advantage of having my own hosting. Recently I had my blogger blog deleted by Google because I was promoting it by different ways(they said I was spamming).
If I have my own hosting then can somebody delete my blog for any reason or not?

Wordpress.com 's free hosting wont give you flexibility!! You can use any themes you like, You cant use adsense, And You will have a Lot more of Curbs!

Yeah as extremephp said you'd be better of paying a small amount for some decent hosting and then you're free to do whatever you want with your blog. Also if you had your Blogger blog deleted by Google then you were most likely spamming.

    Two things...

One, if blogger deleted your blog, you might want to consider different content?
Two, same as one, if you are thinking about doing the same on wordpress.com

Those things said, it appears that yes, you will need hosting to put up your blog(s). Most cpanel enabled hosting companies have an auto-install feature for a blog. Simple as deciding the folder you want it in, filling out your blog name, and assigning a username and password for you to login to it.

You still may have issues with the hosting company, if you post the content that blogger deleted your blog for though... Why? Because it take A LOT to have blogger delete a blog...

Even though it is not compulsory for you to have your own host to have a wordpress blog since you can have your blog hosted with wordpress i.e wordpress.org, however it is most desirable for you to have your own hosting for your blog.

    1. You will be free to do as you wish with your blog and only have Google to contend with only if you wish to have Google traffic.

    2. You will be able to insert adverts in your blog which is limited or even disallowed if you were hosting with blogger or wordpress.

    3. You will have SEO benefits if you later decide to have your own main website which can be on the same domain and hosting with your blog.

You can get cheap and efficient hosting at namecheap, hostgator etc.
