Risks of buying HIGH PR Domain name..

There are some post on other forum that it is risky to buy High PR Domain, because the PR of the domain will drop after the transfer of the ownership..

How true is this?.. And is there other risks/threat?..

Toolbar PR is always a look at the past. PR comes 100% from backlinks. If the backlinks don't change, the PR should remain unaffected during a transfer of ownership. If the niche of the site changes, the backlinks will do very little to help you with rankings for a different niche. PR is way overrated.

What happens in some cases, is that the seller has acquired or paid for backlinks that are going to go away after the sale -and that will certainly cause the PR to drop. A seller might also know that they have recently lost important backlinks and when the next toolbar updates takes place, the PR will drop. PR can also be faked by using a redirect, and you can have a PR10 site drop to zero with the next PR update. None of these drops were a result of an ownership change - but other factors.

PR can be fake. In my opinion buying domain names just because of the PR is time wasting.
