Help changing url permalink?

Hi there,
Does anybody know of a way in which I can change one of my wordpress' categories url from "/?cat=845" to "/channels"?
Any help would really be helpful.

do you mean, Post or the Category itself?

if post you can edit it below the title you can see permalink beneath the title then you can easily edit it.

then if category, you can try making a new category name.

Under Settings > Permalinks ; Check the "Custom" box and put this in there: /%postname%/

I'm a noob at this but will changing the permalinks area change the category or would going into the post and adjusting/creating a new channel/category be the best route?

 

this one is best u could do as required by thread starter and there are many in same Under Settings > Permalinks

 

I believe the categories are already named properly. yoursite/category/category-name. If you're just wanting to rename a category, Under Post > Categories, hover over the category you want to change the name of and click edit.

 

If it doesn't work, you might not to check the chmod settings to your htaccess file. It's a bit of a fiddly job as you need to go into the file structure of Wordpress, so worth Googling permalinks and htaccess first to see how to do it.

 

use /%postname%/ structure for permanent links.

 

Guy basically I made a category out of a page if you know what I mean?
So I need to somehow change the permalink now?
