Let's say I wanted to promote a site by having a photoshop contest and getting entries. Something along the lines of where people would take 2 or more different animals and put them together in photoshop (or another program) to create something totally different. Top 3 vote getters would get prizes. What do you all think a good prize is for a contest like that? $500, $300, $100 ? For 1st 2nd and 3rd?
We did something something similiar. We had customers send in their pics in exchange for our most expensive product. Example:
I know people who gravitate to those contests for free...just for the recognition (eg. www.photoshopcontest.com). Even if you made the prize $10 bucks, it would be enough to generate lots of interested choppers.
$100 would be very attractive. On my site, I've offered only offered free hosting and some additional features for our photoshop contests.
Thanks for the replies. How did you get entries - post in PS forums or do a press release or what? $100 sounded good to me too, but considering you usually have to pay more for a logo, wasn't sure what their time is worth LOL. (photoshopcontest.com has some awesome entries). I could make contest pages on the site optimized for a given keyword (thats easy given on 313k competition for photoshop contest and some related terms I'm sure) - but its a brand new site, so probably sandboxed so I don't get any major traffic right now though.
I was a regular member at PhotoshopContest.com for over 2 years. That was my "home" on the Internet. What really drives the site is not money or prizes, but the votes and statistics that each member gets from their submitted work. The more votes and higher stats you get, the more respect you get from the community. This desire to be the best is what I would say is the major driving force behind the site.
Hmmm......Just came across this while searching for contests with prizes. I am a regular member at PhotoshopContest. Prizes are always inticing, but for many it has to be enough to make it worth while. While yes we don't compete for prizes there, just fun, quite a few people do enter contests for prizes....$10 seems a bit low if you want a really good turn out of the better artists though.......$100 and you'll have a really good turn out probably. just noticed this thread is a bit old......oh well also non-cash prizes can be good sometimes, if they are something that will appeal to photoshoppers
i think a digital cameral might be a good prize for that sort of contest. It all depends on how much money you are looking to spend on the prize.
Volkswes on DigitalPoint in 2006. Haha. Just found this thread again from a link on PSC. VW...if you ever revisit this thread years in the future, this is Chopper from PSC saying "Wussup beyatch?!"
