    Hi,
    I have a website
. This site has been there for sometime. I have been driving traffic via adwords. Now I decided to do SEO and get natural search traffic.

This is my keyword : social bookmarking service

Right now my website is ranked in the 16th page around 163rd or so. I started link building for this site from last week.

Now this is a .info domain, do you think its feasible to achieve top rankings in google considering the current ranking of 163??

Or should I just ignore this site and buy a .com domain and then concentrate on that? What do you think, please advice.

To buy a .com domain and have a website there you do not need to ignore this one. You can simply redirect all the traffic ( and the link juice of the backlinks as well ) to your new .com domain.

In my opinion, however, you can rank even with .info domain. You just need to keep in mind that it takes much more hardwork than a started thinks.

    Hi psharma,
Thanks for your views. I know its going to be a breath taking challenge, but i have done this before, so i am going for it. So far i haven't done seo for .info domain in the past and also read a lot about .info domains are hard to rank. Just needed a confirmation on the same. thanks for your info.

It will be a challenge with a .info because what I've ready, they're used by autobloggers and spammers (not accusing you, just saying what I have read). That being said, I have seen .info pages on the first page of Google, so my thoughts are to not only pass on any link juice to the .com, but if you do stick with the .info, it may take longer to rank, but also build parasite or 360 degree sites that point to it such as Squidoo lenses, HubPages, etc. That may help.

Also, keep the regular SEO consistent, so link building, and yes, do some article marketing, and don't rely on any one SEO method to make up your whole SEO strategy.
