Stop the Madness!!!!

Yes, I said MADNESS! Writers, PLEASE! Stop taking work at ridiculously low rates! You are only harming the industry by doing so. If someone is offering you $2 per 500 words, run for the hills! Better yet, LAUGH AT THEM!

And BUYERS! Please stop asking people to do work at a rate less than what you would offer your worst enemy! It's rude and highly unfair. If you have that low of a budget, perhaps you should write the content yourself and stop trying to buy modern slaves.

This is not aimed at any one person, it is just a general statement. If this applies to you, you already know who you are.

Couldn´t agree more - came across somebody offering to pay $1.50 for a unique 500 word article this morning. It´s self defeating madness.

Yes, people themselves make low rates. may be they think that they will get more orders by doing it. lolz
But even if your rate is high you get a little less orders that will be equal or more than the low rates order profit. :)

I'm sorry, but thats what it has come to with Digital Point I mean. It seems more of a competition who can write articles at the cheapest. But I do agree that people need to stop offering articles at such rates, but then again the majority of the time there not even worth $2 per 500 words!

I notice, you get what you pay for, if you know your work is good there is no reason to write for such a ridiculous price. Let these people get the work they pay for and they will be back to paying what it needed for the quality. If it takes you longer to fix someone’s work than it does to do it yourself there might be a problem and that's what people will get paying 2.00 per 500 original words.

    Agreed.:)

On a more positive note, I just received word that a man who hired me just today from this forum, will be increasing my rate because he was so happy with the content I provided him. There ARE good clients out there, and there is no reason any of us should be settling for less than what we are worth.

I totally agree with you, but that's the way it is, competition is the #1 rule of market, and don't forget that low rates work mean low quality without any doubt, thus the client will loose at the end and those who work for such low rates , are just hurting themselves.

It's a free market. Everything is competitive. Everyone wants the best bang for their buck. If you think they aren't offering enough cash for your work, don't do it. It's that simple.

There are many writers who charge high rates and still cannot write a quality articles. So if someone is asking for high price for articles, then it does not mean that you are going to get quality articles just because his asking price per article is high. So "you get what you pay for" may not be always true.

I think some people forget that capitalism is unfair and the world is unfair? It's also supply and demand, if there's greater supply than demand that drives prices down. Simple economics.

If we all agreed to a basic price range “impossible”, we would control the price for content like we should, we are the professionals and we should name the price not the customer. I think a lot of people are so occupied with the whole "I'm the boss" thing because they control so little in their real life that they are only able to control people who are eager to work for a dollar an hour. 
Many have forgot how things work, for example, you don't go to walmart and say I want to buy new dishes but I will only pay 2.00 for 100 dishes and they must be of the greatest quality or you will give them to me free of charge.
A budget is a great thing to have and if you can only afford low rates PLEASE do not state that you need error free professional work because a professional will not work for such low prices.
Stay firm in your price rate writers, if it's fair you will get the good customers overtime, let the” little man writer” work their fingers off for pennies because the buyer will see after time why they received the low price that they did and the writer may also get quickly burnt out having to write so much to make up for the low price.

I quite agree with it total madness, but at the same time it is a free world. Most of the things in this forum are sold and buy very cheap, the buyers like cheap things. My articles start from $1/100 words, and that is the cheapest I can offer.
