Hi all, I'm a newbie so maybe my question will seem to be stupid to some of you.... How do I know how many backlinks referring to my website?
Well a lot of people use Yahoo! to count inlinks to their websites. However, I would advice you to use this website http://ericmiraglia.com/inlink/ it is really awesome, works fast, reliable, shows a lot of info, and more..
I would suggest using yahoo to check the amount of inbound links to your website. To be honest I would not check the amount of links you have on a regular basis. Spend your time building those links!
The link: operator at Google and Yahoo! as well as Google's Webmaster Tools ALL show ONLY a sample of your back links. Google's link: operator typically only shows a very small sample of your back links known to Google. Google's Webmaster Tools also show a sample, but typically a larger sample than their link: operator. NOTE: Both Google's Webmaster Tools AND link: operator output can contain NOFOLLOW links as well as URLs known to be under penalty, both types of links not contributing to rankings. Google only shows samples and as well as links that are not counted so that you cannot reverse engineer their algorithm which is very link dependent. They also make the link: operator output typically very small so that your competitors cannot get a lot of useful information about your site so that they can duplicate your link building efforts. All of this is done in an "attempt" to preserve the integrity of their SERPs and algorithm... reducing the amount of manipulation that can be done. The Yahoo! link: operator (i.e. Yahoo! Site Explorer) shows a much more exhaustive list of back links. Of course, it is a sample, but a much larger sample. And only a sample of the links known to Yahoo! (not necessarily the same links known to Google because each engine has different subsets of the webs pages in their index).
go to the yahoo home page. type in the search box site:http://www.yoursiteurl.com this will show you how many links and pages ur links are coming from.
There are a ton of services out there, many of them free, but most of them are unreliable (at least that's what I've found in my own experience). I'll check my backlinks on 1 site, then head to a different site and see totally different information. Some of the most reliable information I've seen comes from my Awstats account.
search in google for that like link:domain name which will show you all the backlinks which are going to your website.
backlinkwatch.com will help. also us can use yahoo. open yahoo.com and in search type site:your site url and search. It will give u backlink details.
