Anyone found directories made with passion ?

Hi , I'm looking for really nice directories , not ones made and left as was bought or downloaded ( with even PHP link directory original logo included ) .

I'm looking for directories that shows more to users and that gives feeling that I have submitted my website at right place.

Sometimes is quite difficult to find them .
There are lots of list of directories at forums , but if they are just made for being or can give us more than just being existing.
Personally I feel disapointed when I'm trying to find something that gives value .
In my opinion major search engines works similar to me.
Everyone is trying to submit their website and they don't care about their content especially when they see that directory is not worth to do it .
Is it possible to find list of directories ( not " directories " ) .
No one really is looking for list of urls , everyone is expecting a bit of value as well .

I think the main value in any directory is its editorial standards. Logos, templates, etc. are very easy to swap out. Look for directories that truly edit each submission so its not the same duplicate content that has been submitted to hundreds or thousands of other directories. If you find this, then you are well on your way to finding that "bit of value" that you speak of.

I personally enjoy editing. The benefit of running a directory and editing means I am constantly forced to review each submission and learn something about the submitters website. Those that simply hit the approve button lose out on the opportunity to expand their knowledge and are most likely bringing the quality of their directory down.

 

The list of directories made with passion is probably much higher than we think. It's the ones maintained with passion that really matter.

ya , its true many directories get hosted on same IP address with different name and may be with same database. so you need to find first seo friendly directories and directories which gives quick approval ...

We build our directory completely from scratch. The programming was done by one of our starting members, and the other starting members created the topics tree (about 10.000 different topics now!).
All submissions (100.000+) were checked by our editors before they were approved.

Yes, just sign up for one of the main topics, and you can submit as many sites as you want in the available subtopics (as long as they meet our guidelines).

You began this using the word passion.

Quhl.com is my passion and labor of love. It isn't big (yet), doesn't have high page rank and the category list may seem sparse but I believe that is better than empty categories and they are easy to add when the time comes.

Each and every resource has either been added by me or in the case of submissions nearly every title and description has been edited/rewritten.

My design skills ain't that great but is better than a stock 'look alike' template. The details page content is my pride and joy and there will likely be more as the project evolves.

I will vouch for JoeAnt editors being a special group.

There are directories out there built on the sweat, blood and tears of the owners but hard to find. Is sort of like digging through a cesspool looking for a lost diamond.
