So I'm looking for an extensive list of ALL sites and software that you use

    - to pick out your niche and find keywords
    - to analyse competitors and see their backlinks
    - to analyse your own traffic

and everything in between. So simply EVERY SINGLE tool used to research and after you've set up your website.

And please, with the software/website/tools mention what you use it for. The reason for this post is to gather a lot of information that can be shared for everyone's benefit :)

    Thank you

I feel Google Analytics is by far the best for your own traffic. To analyze competitors you could get SEO Spyglass, or Market Samurai. Market Samurai is great for finding keywords in your niche.

Honestly, there are tons of different websites that analyze site stats but none of them seem to be fully accurate. But to be fair, I don’t think any site will ever be 100 percent accurate. These sites are meant to be for getting a good idea on what a particular site has to offer. Basically, to get a general idea on what the site brings in with traffic, revenue, etc.

I have found that raventools.com, although a paid service, is very good. It shows you all of your backlinks, and also you can run competitor reports to see how you rank against for each keyword, and for what keywords they are ranking. It also tracks your keyword SERP ranking over time which is helpful to know when you get blacklisted.

There are a arrey of tools available for keyword search like overture, Microsoft AdCenter Labs, WordTracker’s Keyword Suggestion Tool ETC. however, the best keyword tool is Google adword keyword tool.

To check website analysis use Google analytics.

Omniture is also a great alternative to Google Analytics for those that can afford it. You can get tons of useful data if you do a genesis integration with your ad server.

I use both Google Analytics and StatCounter. StatCounter is great to track your visitors and shows their location, IP, etc.

To me, the best competitor analysis tools are Market Samurai and Spyglass. They uncover the whole offsite optimization strategy of any webpage/domain. Regarding traffic analysis, Google Analytics is by far the most powerful/flexible, and it is free. To do keyword research, I like to use Google, Keyword Elite, Keyword Research Pro and Market Samurai.
