If keyword is duplicated with in a Campaign then how will be CTR Affected?

And if the keyword is used more than once outside the campaign ...then how

    does it affects the CTR?

The CTR shouldn't be affected but an individual ad obviously won't get as many clicks and impressions as they will be rotated with your other ad's.

Avoid using of the same exact keyword competing in two different adgroups/campaigns points in a same account.

If you put the keyword in 2 different points it will take twice the time for you get a relevant period of statistic to take decisions regarding optimisation about this keyword - and also you need to evaluate it two times for the same keyword.

Notice that the keyword tool tells you that a keyword already exist in the same campaign before adding it - so is easy to avoid adding a repeated keyword at least to the same campaign.

The problem with duplicate keywords is that in such cases your higher CTR ad will show up more without being too relevant to your duplicated keyword.

I was thinking about this the other day - are there any tools for removing or finding duplicates in many large campaigns quickly?

Is not a quick way, but you can run a keyword report on the following columns:

    Campaign | adgroup | keyword

alternatively to the process above you can select and copy the entire keywords from your account using the AdWords Editor Software.

so you export is as .xls or .cvs and create a pivot table from the results in Excel with the following format:

    keyword | count of keywords

configure the "count of keywords" to do not show count as "1" so it will only show duplicated keywords (count = 2,3, ...)

get the "keyword" column and paste it on the search criteria on keyword search tool or filter of AdWords Editor and you will see the duplicated Keywords on your account, so you can decided witch one to delete.

I never got to thank you for that procedure you posted above - cheers for that!

This new editor is great though, I had always assumed Google had abandoned any work or progress on that editor and never sought to make it a serious tool but now it's becoming something that'd be worth good money if it was sold separately.
