Should i SEO for inner page or homepage?

I have a travel site, hope get your suggest about my problem.
I SEO my site for keyword 'travel deals' and i search 'travel deals' site:mydomain and get first result is mydomain, second result is mydomain/innerpage (this page have density keywords better in homepage, optimizated better). I should link building, seo for that inner page or seo, link building for homepage (mydomain) to get high ranking in SERPs faster ?

You want to do both. Target the primary keyword on the homepage because its generally the most important page on a site.

Ideally, you want to optimise the page that is most relevant for that query, so that when people are searching for "travel deals", they will get exactly what they expect on the page. If your home page has good links pointing to it then it can often be easier to rank it than to rank subpages, but don't ignore your subpages, because they can often rank in their own right if your on-page SEO is good and you point enough links at them.

I think - in your case - internal pages are better. You'll have much more keywords to target, which means you could get MUCH more visitors.

 

You can use 5 primary keywords to target your home page and other 5 keywords for inner page.I think it will help you.

Remember this... Pages get indexed not your site... In a whole your site does get indexed, but Google looks at pages..

@Jim4767: Wow, good point. I think like you because with each page i can add title, description, use h1,h2,h3,... do onpage seo so i think Google like these pages than homepage.

 

you should target your home page with primary keywords and inner pages with other keywords. home page is most improtant page for any website, but it doesn't means that inner pages are use less.

 

Do seo for both home and inner pages, but use different meta tags for each and every page.
