    It helps if you have a renowned news site, such as these sites that showed up when I went to Google News just now:

    Reuters
    Washington Post
    The Associated Press
    Wall Street Journal
    People Magazine
    The Guardian
    RT
    Jerusalem Post

    I believe you can do it via Press Releases but I have yet to learn about that myself.

    Also to even be considered to have your website added to Google News you'll have to make sure that your permalink structure has a string of numbers that doesn't look like it's a date. Must be at least 3-4 numbers.
