How am i supposed to get quality back links? Am i supposed to pay websites money to get my link onto their site, or what?

In my opinion, you can write good quality article that is relevant to your product and submit them to some famous article website, once approved, you website link will be on that site.

Obtaining backlinks from reputable web directories and article directories I think will count and getting links from blogs (guest posting) related to your website will count more.
