I'm sorry to take any potential earnings away from Shawn , but I just want to inform you that there are/were some revenue sharing hacks/plug-ins at vBulletin.org. I haven't used them before, though, so I don't know if or how well they work, or if they're even up-to-date.

This idea is generous. I've added my ID as well.

 

i joined this program too So i start getting impressions only from threads i start after i entered my adsense ID or i get commisions from threads i started before that? just curious, because i got 1 impression already, but did not start any threads

 

I cannot put the Adsense ID .. as my id is CA-PUB-XXXXXXXXXXXXX

but .. giving me error if i put channel id.
well not a big problem though.
I don't put any channel ids at the moment

From a techo but very much a "blog-newbie" who knows very little about this stuff, I had actually wondered if there was some sort of reward system for telling people about this fabulous forum you run here.
But then I got to thinking about WHY the forum would offer rewards for new members and that left me guessing, as I could see very little revenue-earning material grabbing me by the throat.

I tend to agree with some of the other comments that this may become more of a burden to you for the benefit of others, than it's upkeep will be worth, . . . unless you can somehow make it earn you a nice residual income on the side.

I rather liked the idea of it as an incentive for the members who take the time to post replies, as this might encourage additional participation in the threads.

The three things which attracted me to DP were;

1. Range of topics covered
2. Obvious lively discussion and lots of activity
3. Helpful and remarkably open responses for newbies
4. The fact that you're NOT flooded with advertising material

As to the challenge of the thing ... being heavily into automation myself ... "Oh what fun" ! "Go for it" !

How about sharing Adsense ID equally to all participating members? Most people start threads for their problems. "How-to" type. Guys who share their knowledge (i mean post reply) seems they have less chance to earn. Ofcourse i am Peon here, came here to learn and earn and also not technically sound.

 

I also agree with Kiran. Maybe that way everyone has the oportunity to earn a fair amount. I heard people are earning but I only get impressions so far. For proper distribution maybe the percentage/percentile of post per user can be used...

I don't know how that's not possible. Maybe I have to post much, much more to be able to get a real chance at getting impressions. It's only the banner at the top-right, correct? I don't see an ad there getting many clicks anyway.

I've entered a channel ID into the corresponding field. That's how I'm tracking impressions from DP.

 

Lol, I start getting impression as soon as I entered my PUB. I haven't posted much also by that time...

I don't know if that are counted for thread starter, but you can see a lot of ads everywhere if you are roaming around the site as a guest.. Maybe they also counted.

 

I thought you had to have over 50 posts before you were eligible to participate in the revenue sharing on this site. Are you currently getting impressions from DP even though you are below 50 posts?
