    I don't think this deal is supposed to get done until around October. We are still in July, so they *might* be testing but until a deal is reached I highly doubt it.

    I believe it is true. My sites have always done well in Bing (page 1 results) and poorly in Y! (page 2 at best). Over the weekend, both of my sites moved to Y! page 1. Comparing the two, results are not exactly the same but very close.

    Well I think that it is true, things are now starting to get even better when Yahoo japan said they'll adopt Google SE along with the partnership of Microsoft. However I still think that Google will still OWN both if they can't pull something out from their magician hat. :D

    I've been watching this closely and they are still testing. I read but can not confirm the target date for complete switch over is end of September.

    I think this Yahoo - Bing merger is ridiculous. A large part of my income comes from Yahoo and is about to be flushed down tubes.

    If it in fact does happen, I guess Slurp bot will be shut down to. At least I would expect so. And if not, and they still insist on crawling my websites, then I will have no problem putting an immediate ban in place.

    Good job Yahoo. Way to take food off peoples table. I lost some respect for them just for considering this last year. If this goes through, ALL respect is out the window and I will no longer use their search engine, EVER. I mean what's the point right? Might as well use Bing. :mad:

    I think this is a very good strategic deal made by Yahoo!

    I say so because Yahoo! currently wants to cuts operating costs. The risks for Yahoo are around revenue, market share, and brand differentiation. If the average revenue per click Yahoo receives under the deal is significantly lower than from Panama, they will suffer financially. However, the operating expenses they save may outweigh this loss. Overall, they will be in a better position.

    But as sonicmayhem, said above, we might as well use Bing! :p

    @Archit

    It's just that it's going to sting a lot of people who have relied on them for years to make a living.

    IMO, if someone designs a search engine and that search engine becomes as famous as Yahoo!, and webmasters spent countless hours optimizing their sites for said search engine's index, then they had better be in it for the long haul. Especially when it's not breaking them at the bank.

    Good strategic deal? Definitely not as far as PR goes. Unless of course it's a good thing to get a lot of people to suddenly hate you and your brand.
