    Hello there,

I've recently made an rss feed for my forum and submitted it to few dosens directory (with some free tool), but didn't see much benefits. All search engine spiders are visiting the site frequently, but there was no serious increase in rankings and human visitors..

So what exactly are the benifits of submitting your rss feed..?

    try submiting manually your feed.
Of course don't wait to increase your traffic much but se bots will spider your site faster.

Can it add some link popularity or PR value to your site, or the rss feeds are only good for sending se bots to your site?

It will increase PR at least. The more exposure the better. You may not see imediate resultes, but it will help.

RSS feeds means to disseminate the contents of the entire article is smart to not make people tired of browsing the web site to find articles of interest.

You will see much better results if your site actually produces new, quality content that people actually want to subscribe to. The cursory benefits are traffic, back links, PR (and if the content is good, widespread syndication).

By submitting your RSS feed, you are giving search engines an ping services updates on when your website has added some new content. It's very unlikely that you'll gain any additional PR just yet - especially as it's around 6 months out of date at the best of times... What you may notice happening is your site ranking for more, new keyphrases in Google and other Search Engines Vertical Search results. This is because you are providing what is essentially a road map of all new content to the directories, making finding and indexing them easier.

Now that you have submitted to the search engines and directories, as detect2173 said, ensure that your website is producing new relevant content for them to index. This will keep the regularity of spidering constant and frequent.

Leading from this, more visitors may be of a higher quality with sites of their own, and may be in positions to quote the forum content, i.e. giving backlinks.

So basically. Regardless of whether you have noticed an instant jump in popularity and visitors, it was worth doing for the long haul!
