    Number one is url. Keywords in url is a huge plus. Next is Title, Descrip, H1 tags, Tags, and Onpage Content. Write naturally but keep your phrases / targets in mind

    I disagree with Flightcenter about keywords in the url. It works great in Yahoo and Bing, but only a little for Google..it does matter..but it's not as important as my number one. It worked well last year and beyond.

    My number one: backlinks

    I've seen sites rank without even having proper title tags, no H1 or no other one page seo. This particular site had good strong backlinks. Since then, they have optomized and obviously they're doing even better.

    I agree with LakelandPrintings' comments. Quality backlinks are a very important attribute, especially with google. Yahoo does favor url terms but their seach is being phased out.

    I have to say getting quality back links is extremely important. Especially from websites in similar niches.

    Keywords in your domain, great H1 tags etc. will definitely help. Quality backlinks are the most important thing however.
