I think your choice should be able to understand the basics of all facets. This way they can setup proper onpage seo with title / descrip / h1 tags / kws this way you can then do offpage backlinking to increase your rankings.

If you're good at math and logic, be a developer. Just make sure you'd like to do it. Developers make ridiculous money and there's always a huge demand for them.
developer is probably the way to go unless you have a very good business acumen in which case go for SEO. However most people who try and get into SEO fail quite misirably.
Mate, it's depend on your qualification, knowledge and interest.. you should choose which field is better for you.. if your maths is strong and interest in coding now you can choose web developer... if you like to work on designing like this.. you can choose web designing.. if you have knowledge about search engine optimization go for SEO. but you need to choose which one is better for you.. I believe the web developer makes the most money starting out. Entry level SEO jobs don't pay that much, since it's a marketing position. However, if you stick with it, you can probably make decent money. Personally, I would choose what you like to do more and consider how important the pay is to you. You can search salaries online to get an idea. Also, I think it takes more time to learn how to be a web developer and web designer than seo.
I will agree with skytide's observations, web developers make more money than others starting out and IF you are good you will end up higher even later in life. Designers have a rather wide spectrum of salaries and I wouldn't compare them with developers. SEOs are paid rather poorly in the beginning but can make it big soon if they are good. Web developers turned SEOs do specially well.
I'm not agree with this. Maybe if you are dealing or a game programmer you will surely need talent. But if you are into web development you need creative thinking and logic.^_^
Why not 3 in 1. Go with web designing - web development and seo will come along. Unless you really really wanna specialize.

It depends which you are best at really, and how much you want to earn. I would advise getting a proper job. I have worked doing SEO and occasional design work for friends and colleagues, and friends of friends for a few years now. The work doesn't pay enough to live on for me even if I did it full time. The niches are just too saturated. Do what I do, do it as an on-the-side job to top up your proper paycheck.
