This is an update from another thread I had, but it's closed now, but you can view all the specs of my machine and everything about it now.

    http://www.ginside.com/2006/194/the-praetorian-mad-house/

Let me know if you notice any typos or anything, but I think I got all of it set. These are screenshots and specs of everything in my machine.

    enjoy :)

Seems like a decent spec machine, what are you using it for? Development with a test server running in a virtual machine?

I have two sticks, that's what the (2) is for ram, same as hard drives :) 2gb of ram

it's just my desktop. mainly photoshop, dreamweaver for tables, aim, firefox, normal stuff. I just wanted a machine that would last me another 5 years, same as my last one, so I went all out :)

How do the two screens work then? Is it a case of spreading a 'screen' over two monitors or do you run seperate apps on each? Dumb question but ...

It's pretty easy with the windows integration, it acts as two screens in one. I can just drag stuff between both monitors and they work just great :)

Ok, so say I had just the desktop showing ... would it split across the two monitors or would it show two seperate desktops?

Awesome machine!!!! I really like your cooling mechanism.
Where did you buy your cabinet from? I am also looking for a good one. Yours seem sturdy.

I recently upgraded mine as well.

I got a Core2Duo (C2D)Intel processor. I was running dual core (2.66Ghz)earlier, take my word for it, C2D is totally a different class.

    I have got Intel Core2Duo E6600 2.4 Ghz 1066 Mhz. FSB 4MB L2 cache on a ASUS 965 chipset, 2 GB 667FSB Kingston RAM (2X1GB).

This processor is actually faster than Dual Core 3.4 Ghz.

This product is far more superior than AMD.

Motherboard+CPU(including fan) alone costed me around $620.

with all that money, why did you go for ddr2? you could've gotten ddr3, the latest sticks from kingston, but those go with some rare MB's and you would need to change the graphics card. Oh well...

I was just askin for a new pc config, around here:

    3gb ddr3 ram + dual-core p4 + some MB (don't remember the name) + 512 geforce something, costed around 1050 euros. Just that! I think I'll just wait a little more. :)

Note, I'm not really into hardware. :D

I'm pretty happy with it overall. It will last me a long time. It runs really fast and everything is smooth on it. Boots up really fast too.

Have to a agree, I got my E6600 about 2 weeks ago, got 2GB of Ram and 2 200gb SATA drives with Nvidia 7600.

The machine is unbelievably fast and smooth. Everything feels instant and its definately in a class of its own.

I have been an AMD fan for the longest time but the new Intel chips are amazing.

Not bad at all, I'm considering doing something similar when I have the time. Ilove shopping for components and building a PC, so much more satisfying than ordering from Dell.
