Please, help with a (newbie) problem!:

We have an online store. And we are going to fill it with useful information related to our products (guides, reviews, interesting and useful information etc. etc.) and to general theme of our store. Also, we are planning to install a blog.

What is the best SEO-correct way to use/place those articles and the blog to make our positions in search engines higher?

Am I correct thinking like that:
    1. I choose what keyphrase I need to be ranked higher with. For this example - it is "product X",
    2. I write an article optimized for "product X",
    3. I put that article somewhere like /articles/helpful-info/article1.html, AND inside that article I put a link/links on that "product X",
    4. I write some review/post/comment in my blog related to "product X" and put links from that review/post/comment to that "product X"?

This way I will have 2 pages optimized for "product X": that articles and the product's page itself... Will that hurt? What page will be chosen by SE to show - better optimized or...?

Sorry for newbie questions, but I need to start somewhere...

    Thank you for the explanation!

I think article page will be better, it contains a lot of infos then product page

and in article page you should leave a link to product page -> this is the best

    Thank you for the reply!

...So, then the general promo-strategy should be like: "if i want to promote product X, i should create a lot of useful info about it on my site, and all those pages should link to the product page"? =)

What about the blog - the same?

    Thank you!

Sorry, I think my question was a little blurred.
    Let me re-formulate it.

Currently, we are developing an online store in a highly-competitive area, and we primarily focus on developing useful, interesting and informative content.
BUT we immediately stumbled upon the following two SEO-related questions:

    1. Should we keep all those articles:
    1.a Everything - in a blog only?
1.b "As usual": we create a section called "Product guides", inside we create sub-sections like "Tips & Hints", "How to", "Expert advice", and place articles there?
1.c Combine: publish some articles - in a simple structure like point "1.b", and some - in the blog?

    2. What is the strategy of interlinking articles with the product- and category pages?
Blindly choose most profitable product (or a category), write smth. useful related to it (with links leading to that product/category) and publish this article at our site?

Please, share your opinions! This is VERY URGENT for us!

    Thank you!

    inner linking is very important.

The more content you have the better. If your site is selling cat food, then write all their is to know about cat food, and link to your products for sale. Wether it is blog, articles, or product pages, the most important is link structure on your site, and content. Good content that can be found easily by search engines will rank well on its own.

    Thanx for the reply!
What do you mean saying "link structure on your site"? Is there any specific...well.. structure, scheme, that links should follow?
