Copied Content-How it can harm a site?

Hi Everybody,
Can you please tell me about if a site is using completely copied content from other sites available on net than what effects can be there in terms of rankings, traffic or any other SEO point.

The big issue with duplicate content is with content on your own site, which doesn't take much to figure is domain stupid as it can only degrade the user experience, here you will get heavily penalized by Google for having the same content showing up more than once on the same domain

Genuine work is always preferred and supported by everybody. So, why you copy contents from others? If you have to copy the content then first study the whole content and write in your own words. It will increase your experience too.

It basically lessens the quality of your site. If you want to gain authority and credibility, you may as well have unique content which users will not easily find in other websites, otherwise, they can just prefer any other site that contains the exact same content as yours. This is of course besides the fact the Google hates duplicate content and may dislike your site as well.

One other thing is if your content is copied from another author, then that's basically an act of plagiarism. Unless you want to be dubbed as such, then original content is best for your site.

Duplicate content is really a myth. I carried out some experiments, duplicating one of my sites to several other sites. None of them have been penalized by Google, even after 6 months. Have a look at news sites, most of them duplicate the content of other. By the way, the Internet is full of DC. I don't say DC is not a real problem but its not a big issue as some would like to express. Google "duplicate content myth" for further information.

 

As far as negatives, you will most likely not rank for the duplicate content, and there is also a chance it won't get indexed. In terms of being penalized I don't believe you will be, but if you won't rank for the terms, and the pages aren't indexed (some might), then there is very little incentive to add duplicate content to your website(s).

 

from my experience your pages will be indexed but your rankings will be so low that it will be like that pages are not indexed...

De-indexing is not the whorst that could happen to you
Stealing (copy) content from other websites is a crime.
I´ve started to take legal actions against everyone who stealed content or images from my websites and i´m very happy with.
You won´t believe what an extra income stream it is, to sue people for stealing content.
So if you ask because you want try it, i hope you steal the content of a straight guy who will sue you for 10.000 USD, if you take a image or text from him.

 

Google will give more preference to site with old age domain. so new site would copy content from other site then u would not get benefits that you should get from your content . otherwise it will not harm your site.

There is "no issue" with duplicate content.

It is called *syndication* - allowing other sites to publish your articles/content. look at Press releases and news that constantly make it to the main stream and are often from a handful of sources. Those that are saying you will be penalised in this thread are incorrect.

With that said, you may find it hard to rank for the content directly, since you almost always have to link to the original. Its not hard to overcome this if you think creatively.

If you are really that concerned create a temporary blog, fire it up with a mix of original and duplciate content for elsewhere and see what happens for yourself.

With that said, if you intend on /stealing/ someone elses work then that is a different ball game altogether and hopefully the owner of the content will issue a C&D to your hosts and have it removed/site shut down.

even this is no big deal. Ive used this example of testing we did multiple times in this conversation here recently, and here it is again. please compare the top 2 sites in this search.

and the site the original is on is significantly more powerful than our site, its been on the first page for "SEO" on and off for the last 18 months.

& we have many many more examples, THERE IS NO DUP CONTENT PENALTY.

Dulpicate content on your website will definitely be penalized by the Google search engine. Your website may be banned and also this wouls also not deliver good results in long run. So its better to write unique and quality content for your website. Also if you can't manage to write so much unique content try to use some content rewrite tools like:
