    Hi medx,

Your sites look nice, with a web 2.0 feel. I don't think, however, that they are going to convert very well. In other words, you are leaving quite a bit of money on the table.

Both sites are lacking a Unique Value Proposition. Depending on whose research you believe, you only have a few seconds to answer 2 questions. What can I do here? And, why should I do business with you instead of your competitors? The answer to the second question is your UVP. Free Quotes? Are there any sites in your business that don't offer free quotes? What distinguishes you from them? Why should a visitor stay on your site and do business with you?

You repeatedly say, in the About section that you have been in business since 1992. If that's the case, it should be front and center on the home page. Do you think in those first few seconds, the visitor who doesn't see a compelling reason to stay, will say, "Gee, I don't see anything special here, maybe if I dig around on the About page, I can find something"? Good luck with that. It's too easy to hit the back button.

If I search Google under 'medicare supplemental insurance', I get 1.2 million responses. You are in a very competitive space. Take a look at one of your competitors www.medigap360.com. In less than 1 minute I counted 9 bullets on why I should do business with them right in the middle of the home page: No Deductibles, No Co-Pays, etc. If I am a possible customer, and I'm comparing you and them, guess what . . . you lose. That's the real world you're competing in. A pretty website is a "So what"?

Also, your About page should be ABOUT YOU. Who are you? Why should they have confidence in you? Are you hiding? Best practice is to have photos and bios. If you've been doing this since 1992, presumably you have a management team with some background. Let's see it.

You've been around since 1992 and all you can come up with is 2 testimonials . . . please! You can ask people to trust you, but whether they do it or not is another matter. It's not the visitors job to figure out if they can trust you. It is YOUR JOB to make it obvious to them why they should.

It's all about why you are in business. If it is to convert the highest possible percentage of visitors into leads and customers, you have your work cut out for you. There's more, but this should keep you busy for a while and make you some money when you're done.

If you decide to implement any of these suggestions and would like me to review them for conversion and usability (you have real issues there as well) I am more than happy to do that.

    All the best . . . Carl

Concerning your first site, it has good design and layout. I like it. Most important according to me is to shorten significantly the volume of the home page. You can stop at the Copyright line and carry the rest of the information linked to 3-4 pages.

Good use of the "trusting" deep blue color themes.
Your Medicare Blog down the bottom of http://www.nationalmedicaresupplements.com seems to be not rendering on my browser (Firefox 3.6.8) . All I see is a lot of unformated text - left aligned, and not consistent with the rest of your home page.
Your pages need to be proof read - I noticed a number of spelling and grammatical errors.
On your contact page I question why you are using a yahoo email address and not one that matches this domain. On the same contact page, where is your address? On About Me you claim to like to meet your customers so you should have your full address and even a Google Maps linked there so they can find you easy.

On http://www.americanseniors.com you have the same formating problem at the bottom of the page.

You have the beginnings of a very good site, although it's a little image heavy. You could try splitting up the text further down the page to make it easier to read.

The first link that you provided is simple and organized well. But the second one has bad design below the site.

Looks ok. Could be more organized but other than that it's simply "ok".
