How i tripled my adsense earnings on my blog

I have been doing various blogs over the last few years but never really got the hang of making any money on adsense, I recently started reading up on adsense various ebooks & forum posts etc, so I started to put the information into practice, this is what I did, first of all I changed my colour scheme on my blogs to blue with black writing in posts,so my titles where blue and my content was black, i than changed all my adsense ads to the same titles blue content and urls to black.I changed my blog layout to a template which had a left sidebar instead of a right sidebar because most people read from left to right.I then added 2 x 160x 600 text ads to my left sidebar at the top and added recent posts underneath these showing the last 20 posts,in my header I added a 715x15 link and that was all I did to the homepage, on the posts page I added a 336x280 large rectangle content ad above the post content and a 415x 15 link below the post content and the sidebar the same as the homepage, my ctr has gone up and my earnings have tripled this month by changing the layout to this.
Of course the set up is only the first part I still need to add good content to get traffic to the blog, but I thought I would share this information on DP in case anyone is interested

This is very good sharing! It appears that the conventional blue links and black text still captures the highest CTR and results =)

All the best to your blog business!

336x280 is the best ad unit. Always performs the best.

Never thought about the left sidebar. Might have to test that!

Adsense ads fields are various and everyone must experiment with its own site, to find the best format.

336x280 seems the best ad unit. However, Image ads generate a very high CTR for me..

I have been using a similar color scheme as you for years with great results. One thing i have found to make a huge difference is only having 1 adsense location per page...You get more out of a click, since the advertisers are bidding over 3-4 links vs. 9-14...simple supply/demand math

This is a very good example that "less is more" and that simple stuff works! I have recently done something similar and have had a great increase in the CTRs too :)
