    I was wondering for a competetive field like site promotion, can directory submissions build page rank ?

    I mean do directory submissions alone build page rank ? :)

    Or should i start finding link partners ?

    For a field like website promotion and marketing, you will definitely need more than directories...you will need thousands of backlinks. If you look at the backlinks for the top 10, you'll see what I mean.

    If you want to rank for something competitive, directories aren't going to benefit you so much so. Directories may help improve your PR, but you'll need to submit to the more known and higher quality directories.
