    Hey guys. I wanted to start a porn site to make me some residual income. I don't want to put too much effort into it, I just want it to get it to the level where it pays a few bills and I leave it on autopilot, with PPC and some affiliates placed here and there.

    However, I heard that the ad conversions on porn sites are pathetic compared to the views. Anyone with some practical experience they have to share on this point?

    Hey there,

    From my experience (I own one porn site), it is impossible to make money on porn sites with this statement in mind:

    There's basically too much competition for every niche, and it takes a lot of effort, time, and of course money to promote porn site. And yeah - conversions are low. What I would recommend is invest some money in link exchange with hight PR sites/forums - this should save you some time.

    I actually managed to find an EXTREMELY low competition niche which I believe can be dominated on autopilot. If you don't mind, give me a % figure of the CTR on your porn site

    It's like 1 paid sign up per 200 affiliate banner clicks. Can I ask what niche you are in? Don't worry, I'm not going to become your competitor, I got enough of porn :) I was also surprised to discover that people tend to click much more frequently when visiting non-porn site...I thought it was just the contrary.

    Sanchez is right. The CTR on porn sites is fairly low (I should know since I manage 3 porn sites and an adult ad network). On a typical (clean looking) porn site the CTR is about 0.8%. I would suggest going with a CPM or popup ad method. You will make a bit more this way.

    Weird that porn has low CTRs. I see some pretty well thought out ads from Fuckbook and the Brazzers Network.

    Anyway, I was thinking of hosting mainly videos and photos with ugly girls in them and having the pretty girls in the ads. What do you think of that strategy?
