Which one is better? Hostgator or Bluehost?

    Hello,
I am looking for a substitute of Godaddy Grid Hosting. Need to migrate as the Grid Hosting is giving a lot of headache and support is too poor for it.

That's why I am looking for a shared cPanel Hosting in US only. I have narrowed down to Bluehost and Hostgator.

Which one is better in your opinion? Better in terms of Uptime, Speed, support etc.

    Thanks

I have seen plenty of reviews about both of them.
Difficult to say which one would be better right for you.
I would recommend you ask both for test account

What about DreamHost? Is it in same lane with the previous two?

Between the three I would go with HostGator. Dreamhost is just as bad as godaddy IMO.

I believe that is difficult to say which one will be better for you beforehand. Both have plenty of reviews. But sau which one would be better is very hard now. You may want to try both of them and then decide which one is better?

My average traffic per site is 1500UV/day. I am planning to host all the 22 sites.
I know I must go for unlimited plan, but which one on which host?

I have heard good things about hostgator. They seem to be better than bluehost or dreamhost.

Hostgator is much better. They also respond to support related problems on their forums which are manned 24/7. Bluehost rarely ever responds to questions posted on their forums as they consider their ticketing system as the only official mode of communication with their customers. On top of that, Hostgator provides quality support, is much bigger than BH and gives you the feel of hosting with a premium company.

with bluehost I had an issue - they dont give you root access unless you provide your passport or any other form of ID to them. this isnt good.

No Shared hosting provider will give you Root Access. I think you meant to say Jailed SSH access?

I use hostgator and have nothing but good things to say about them. Their support is awesome. I've never had to wait more than 2 minutes for help by phone.

The unlimited plan does not mean that your sites will work there. I would suggest looking at a smaller host, because they take care of you more than the big guys. Think about it.
