search engine for INDIA

Hey all the indians at DP,

I's surfing net and I found search engine specially for Indian languages, so I just thinks should share with indian friends...

Gujarati search..

dont waste your time guys.. its jsut dump the SE's result same like meta engines but in differnt windows.. and neither it provides results in Indian langs..

It is not a Search engine in itselves .... butan ASP script which displays the results in a frame!

The company could do something about the logo of the site!

 

Hmmm let's say it's not search engine but a good aproach. Need to do better my dear friend.

 

I like the efforts made, but it really need to do better.

Thank you all for providing your +/- feedback - at least it helps for what can be done next.

Let us make few confessions
- bhomiyo.com is not technically challanging but it is just helpful for searching in Indian langauges
- it is easy for any web developer to develop it with some extra time
- it does not want to generate any revenue from the site
- it is a non-profit initiative to provide search in Indian languages so that people who are blogging in local languages get wider exposure and people who are searching can read these blogs;
- May be one day government and companies will start publishing their content in local language and our newspapers too!

Any comments/suggestions to make site better and useful to our local community people are welcome.

Agreed that bhomiyo.com does not have the best look!

Anyone who want to design the homepage for bhomiyo.com - who think they can design better look - come forward. email at [info] at [bhomiyo] dot [com].

the look should be simple to use - not cluttered like yahoo's. but more like google's. or MSN is fine.

There is another hindi search engine at www.raftaar.com

It automatically converts english to hindi alphabets.

is rediff.com popular among indians? i heard they are dominant in the ecommerce industry in india.. i even saw a stock channel showing rediff's stock soar for Q2..

 

ya rediff.com have good option for composing mail in Indian languages, the only think i didn't like about rediffmail is pop-ups.
