Digital Point forums, online marketing, and HORRIBLE ENGLISH

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by Geezertd, Jul 18, 2010.

I am growing more and more tired every day of the number of different venues, whether it be blogs, articles, unsolicited e-mails, or, hell, even posts on this forum, that are written in completely HORRIBLE English.

Now I know, I know, people in poor countries have to try their best to make a living as do the rest of us, but it's getting really frustrating trying to conduct research online and coming across articles or posts that are either:

    A) Written in such poor English that they don't make any sense, or;

    B) Obviously generated electronically by some kind of article spinning software.

For the love of God people, I know the English-speaking market is the largest online presence (outside of perhaps China and India), but if you are going to market to native English speakers, PLEASE make sure your language skills are up to scratch first

Do you want to check the grammar in your post title?

Please, I urge you, never venture onto mylot.com.

I know what you mean OP, half the time it's three sentences and you spend 10 minutes trying to understand what they want. I sometimes want to help, but feel it'd take half a day to extract what they're actually after.

Oh well .... there's nothing that can be done about it, unless you want to start a new forum that has an English test instead of a captcha :)

Would probably be a better idea to spend some time learning English first. Much better investment:D

In my opinion, you are being little harsh to non english speakers,

Now... that's disgusting! What do you think UK guys think of US english? (By the way, both "rich" countries).

Maybe your english is immaculate but you are surely lacking of some other skills, mmmm like... let's say... diplomacy? (This is how you spell it, right?).

Not my intention at all. Simply tired of people trying to approach me with "GREAT SALES OPPORTUNITIES!1! MAKE MONEY ASAP!!" who can barely explain what they are trying to sell.

I don't mind doing a little be of de-coding for people who don't speak engrish as their primary language. As long as they put in a half ass effort to make an informative post I don't see a problem if their spelling and grammar is a little off.

People who contribute nothing to the conversation is what annoys me more...

I applaud people for trying even if it's hard to read. They are making an effort to better their lives and they for the most part are aware of the English language barrier yet they keep on doing it. The more they do it the better they will get.

I don't know how some of these people are even making money online. I mean, if you can't properly spell a word, how in the world are you even getting TRAFFIC to your site? Maybe some users should learn some of the most common words before writing a post or blog post.

    Yugo,
