I have been with godaddy for 3 years and have been very happy with them, but the price of renewals seems pretty high. So, to get to the point, where do you all register your domains?

I have all 3 of my domains registered at 123-reg.co.uk I have always used them and I am happy with the service, it may not be the cheapest but its what I like.

Was with GoDaddy but now moved to Namecheap because of their policy change which doesn't allow me to buy anything from them.

Hmm. Interesting. I should have added namecheap to the list. Sorry about that. Thanks for the input.

I've used GoDaddy in the past but recently I've switched to NameCheap. In addition to competively priced their interface for managing domains is quite good. Plus they don't try to upsell you like GoDaddy does.

I am with my host, not with any seperate place. I am very happy with them too. I got the first year free and the prices are good.

Not to assume your host is bad or anything but make sure that the domain names are registered in your name and it is totally transferable if you need to do so.

I have seen a number of web hosts which offers free domain names or does the registration for you but place themselves are legal owner of the domain name. By doing this, they prevent you from leaving them.

I had that problem with NDO (part of Namesco) - I've been a loyal customer for 4 years and now have my own server, so I asked if I could transfer my domain away because I have no need for their hosting any more. They said no - because they are the legal owners of the domain, the price to buy "my" domain from them would be about £85. Absolutely disgraceful - always register your domains independantly.

My registrar of choice is namecheap.
