What do you do for getting back links?

I feel that back links are the effective tools in building traffic to a site or a blog. What do you adopt to get back links?

You might also look at a website creation site such as weebly - but the content needs to be unique or it won't get indexed.

 

If your site is new, then social bookmarking is the best way to get the backlinks for your site. Then start commenting on the blogs or articles of your niche and direct the link to your site. After a couple of months you can start buying the backlinks package which builds backlinks for your site at a very reasonable speed.

 

To get more back links you can do forum and blog posting.

 

Find competitors's backlink and get them.

Try to increase quality back links with Do Follow and High PR sites..

 

The main purpose why I always build backlinks on my site is to increase the serp ranking as well as pr.

 

I have tried running contests and giveaways too.. they work 'to an extent'.

 

Exchange links with relevant sites of your niche...

 

do more offpage optimization like Blog Post, Article Submission, Social bookmarking and Directory submission, then you can quickly increase your backlinks.

I've got the same problem too.

 

There are lots of options available.....

Participate in forums, and once permitted add a link in your signature. Dont just spam or add "thanks for this" type posts, be sure to add value and answer peoples questions.

Add blog comments. Search for blogs in your niche that have open comments and leave something on topic - as above, dont just say "nice post" or "thanks i will definatly read your site" type comments as they tend to be spam. Leave something on topic, at least a sentence or two. Leave your website in the box provided rather than in the reply you leave.

Write articles - it doesnt take much to write an article - add it to one of the various article directories and include a link in your author bio. You can reuse the article and post it to others, or respin/rewrite if you wish.

Social bookmarking. The least effective, but its so quick to do, you may as well throw some at your site. Most are free to join. Signup, bookmark your sites, pages, and articles. Look for high quality ones, Digg, delicious, stumbleupon etc

Try to stick clear of directory submissions (low quality ones, there are a few that are ok) and link exchanges though.

We all know that adding backlinks is a time consuming process. Does anybody know of an offshore company in India that can deliver quality results so I wont be penalised for adding content that is not relevant?

I agree with most of the posts here... but you cannot focus on one medium. You have to post to blogs, forums, articles, etc. on an almost daily basis. Also, create your own expert blogs pointing to your site. Eventually that blog will gain ranking and be an easy backlink that you can control.
